Tahun 2014 Pemerintah Kota Dumai melalui Bagian Adm Kesra telah mengalokasikan bantuan pendidikan untuk perguruan tinggi menjadi 2 (dua) kategori yakni Bantuan pendidikan untuk mahasiswa kurang mampu dan mahasiswa yang berprestasi. Setakat ini untuk mahasiswa yang berprestasi kita masih melihat dari Prestasi Akademik, dimana untuk mahasiswa Jurusan Eksakta IPK minimal 3.00 dan untuk Non Eksakta IPK minimal 3.20. Dan untuk mahasiswa kurang mampu masih mengacu pada persyaratan tahun sebelumnya.
